Obama Says Americans Think The Stimulus Worked

President Barack Obama rejected the notion that a majority of Americans do not believe that his stimulus bill worked, saying in an occasionally tense interview with CBS’s Steve Kroft.
“Let me stop you there, Steve.

First of all, there’s not a general perception that the stimulus didn’t work,” he said, admitting, though, that “when it comes to the economy, we’ve got a lot more work to do.”

    There is definitely a disconnect between belief and fact when it comes to a number of policies that have come out under the Obama administration. I’d say Obama is wrong as far as a significant portion of the public’s perception that the Stimulus didn’t work. But that doesn’t make that perception true. The stimulus given its size did do what it was capable of doing. The hole the recession left was just too big for the stimulus to pull us out of. But it did halt the economic freefall we were in and has saved and created numerous jobs and continued to up until the funds began to fade.
    It was much needed. It help prop up the economy and help pull it through some of the rough stretches but it’s size kept it from reaching expectations.
