That’s the colorful horizon and atmosphere of Earth, our gorgeous home planet, on 3 January 2010 at 12:27:52 GMT.
An astronaut aboard the International Space Station (Expedition 22) snapped this lovely photo while orbiting 180 nautical miles (333.36 kilometers or 207.14 miles) above the North Pacific Ocean at latitude 4.9, longitude -117.0.

Two Russian Tu-160 Blackjack strategic bombers have carried out a record-breaking 23-hour patrol with a planned flight range of 18,000 kilometers (over 11,000 miles), an Air Force spokesman said on Thursday.

High above your head, a particle accelerator may be forming.
Under the right conditions, thunderstorms 40 kilometers above Earth may drive narrow beams of electrons to near light speeds, researchers will report tomorrow at the Royal Astronomical Society meeting in Glasgow, Scotland.
